Andreas Greiner has explored the boundaries of site-specific art, from installations to sculptures. A recurring theme in his work is the anthropogenic impact on nature‘s form and evolution. He recognizes the pivotal role artists play in molding the cultural shift towards more environmentally conscious futures but is also deeply aware of the art world’s sustainability challenges, particularly in the global north. This awareness includes aspects such as travel, art shipping, and the high consumption of energy and materials. Greiner is committed to environmental responsibility both in discourse and in a practical manner.

Actions taken: Andreas is co-founder of the artistic non-profit art4biodiversity, which aims to cause meaningful and enduring ecological action, and advances public dialogue concerning climate change, biodiversity, and sustainability into the 21st century. In 2019, he co-initiated the project waldfuermorgen e.V. – a participatory forest in which children and families planted trees on around three hectares on the upper outskirts of Goslar. This project has resulted in the planting of more than 20.000 trees. Greiner has abstained from air travel since 2017 and advocates within his team for others to follow suit. In addition to consistently opting for the most eco-friendly export and import methods, Andreas strives to transport items by ship. He opts for the most environmentally friendly e-commerce platforms and online markets and strives to use second-hand materials whenever possible.
